Why use Lime?
- Lime building products are strong, flexible and permeable.
- Traditional buildings built using lime mortar move and absorb moisture.
- In comparison with cement mortar which is rigid, lime mortar moves with the structure and so prevents masonry from cracking.
- By using lime mortar, expansion joints can be avoided.
- Cement is impervious whereas lime allows moisture to travel through, preventing the trapping of moisture that causes render failure in cement render.
